No-self – an afternoon discussion on the work of Bernadette Roberts
Sunday 27th March, 2011
1pm – 5pm
15 Francis St, Darlinghurst, NSW

Tom Dunser, co-founder of the Integral Spiritual Network and a member of the Auckland Integral community, will join us for an in-depth discussion of the work and being of Bernadette Roberts, a former Carmelite nun and a contemplative in the Catholic tradition.
Bernadette has written three books describing a state of no-self. She writes in vivid detail of the developments that took her to and beyond the unitive, which is often seen as the final stage. What follows is a terrain where both the experience of God and the experience of self falls away. This reveals that the human journey goes way beyond self and finally follows Christ’s journey to the very end.
Tom had the opportunity to participate in some retreats with the small community that has formed around Bernadette. In our dialogue we will probe into Bernadette’s descriptions of the journey, discuss her notion of incarnation into the marketplace and weave in and out of a discussion of the recent paper by Chris Dierkes published in the Journal of Integral Theory and Practice, called ‘Indistinct Union’, in which Chris brings to light one Integral perspective on Bernadette’s writings.
Please come and join us for an afternoon of gentle enquiry and discussion. For any enquiries that you might have about this event please contact Trish Nowland via our Yahoo group list.
